Scenario Comparisons

Once you or your partners have created multiple scenarios in a planning area, you can use the scenario comparison feature to compare the relative metrics of two or three scenarios and discover commonalities between them.

After selecting the ‘Create Comparisons’ button you can select two or three scenarios to compare using the scenario comparison interface. The comparison shows a suite of comparable metrics for each scenario, including the totals of acreage, number of projects, cost per acre, and total cost of each scenario. A bar chart displays the percentage of the total potential Resilience Opportunity (RO) for the Planning Area that is met by each of the scenarios, for each Objective. A second chart displays the RO efficiency for each scenario compared to each other and ideal efficiency (this ideal efficiency ignores spatial distribution and simply calculates how much RO could be achieved for how much acreage treatment if one were to sort management units in order of the highest to lowest RO/acre; it is not strictly achievable). This chart can be viewed by Objective or for all Objectives combined.

Consensus Scenarios

Additionally, you can view a consensus scenario generated by overlaying each compared scenario to find areas of common ground. A “Consensus Scenario” consists of projects built from levels of overlap between the original scenarios; there can be up to three projects: a “Complete consensus” project; a “Majority Consensus” project, and a “Non Consensus” project. You may exclude any of these from the “Consensus Scenario” using the toggle buttons. As you vary the composition of the Consensus Scenario by toggling the inclusion or exclusion of these areas shown on the accompanying map, the card, charts and graphs contain summary data for the Consensus Scenario and update in real time. Once you are satisfied with the composition of the Consensus Scenario, it can be named and saved, and then reviewed from the Scenario panel of the home screen.
